The closest island to the mainland, Anacapa lies 11 miles southwest of Oxnard, Channel Islands Harbor. The island is filled with Coreopsis a flower native to the Southern Claifonia Coast thru spring and early summer. Sea mammals are often seen around Anacapa’s shores.. West Anacapa’s slopes are the primary West Coast nesting site for the brown pelican.
California Sea lions are alsoseen here resting on the rocks around the Ilsand.
